Credit Denial
Credit Denial - (always seek qualified legal advice when doing credit repair)
What to do if your denied credit
Well to start off, you are entitled to get a free copy of your credit report within 30 days. This report will be issued by the credit bureau that reported the information.
When you get your denial letter in the mail you will know who it is and how to contact them. It’s pretty easy. It’s also a good idea to check your credit reports from time to time.
Above I mentioned a great book that explains how to correct errors and erroneous info on your credit reports. But I will go a little further and give some more basic insight. When you get a copy of your credit report go over it and make sure everything is being reported as accurate.
Make a list of everything that is being reported as:
Inaccurate
Out of Date
Misleading
Any other violations of the FCRA
Also look for out dated employment history and any account that YOU closed. Make sure any account you closed states “closed by consumer. If not a lender my think that it was closed for another reason.
Finish making your list and then you can start with your dispute, other-wise known as a Request for Reinvestigation. (You will see this wording on forms sent to you by the credit bureaus.) If you would like, you can use the Reinvestigation request form you have been sent, when you received your credit report. B
There is no fee to request a reinvestigation at all! Maybe only a postage stamp. Make sure you keep copies of everything you send for future reference. The use of certified mail is your choice.
